What’s in the Table of Friends Hosting Kit?
May 2, 2025

If you’re anything like me, you love turning a simple gathering into something a little more special. Whether it’s a full-on dinner party or a casual catch-up with friends, the right hosting pieces can make all the difference. At Table of Friends, we believe that every table tells a story.
Here’s a peek inside my hosting kit: the go-to pieces I reach for to set the scene, serve in style, and add just the right amount of charm.
Serve Ware Essentials

These are the core serving pieces I use again and again. They’re versatile, beautiful, and perfect for serving up anything from snacks to 3-course meals.
Thrifted Serving Trays
These are the conversation starters. A vintage gem I found thrifting, it brings such a fun pop of colour and personality to the table. Use it to display appetizers. (Sharing my own photo here for a little inspo!)
Wooden Serving Board
Perfect for charcuterie or dessert spreads. I love the texture and warmth a wooden board brings.
Glass Pitcher
Ideal for water, juice, sangria, or a signature cocktail. It feels a little more elevated than pouring straight from the bottle (and it’s functional, too).
Wooden Salad Tossers
These add a rustic touch and pair perfectly with a big bowl of greens. Bonus: they look great resting on the side of the salad bowl.
Charming Touches

It’s all in the details. These are the cute personality-packed pieces that bring the whole vibe together.
Fruit Salt and Pepper Shakers
Because why settle for basic shakers when you can have tiny lemons or tomatoes on your table? They add such a cute touch. These tomato shakers are from H&M Home.
Coloured Candlesticks
Candlelight changes everything and provides ambiance. I love choosing colours that match the theme of the night for a more curated feel.
Place Card Holders
I use these for menus or little notes to guests. They’re simple, stylish, and instantly make things feel more thoughtful. You can do a little DIY and make these out of clay!
Themed Napkins
Never underestimate the power of a cute napkin. Whether it’s a seasonal print or a cheeky phrase, they always add personality to the table.
Tiny Vases or Bud Vases
Florals are my favourite way to add colour to the table. Scatter a few small florals across the table instead of one large centrepiece. I thrifted all of these ones!
Table Runner or Fabric Accent
A flowing runner or place mats add instant texture and visual interest to your tablescape. It ties everything together without feeling fussy.
Your hosting kit doesn’t need to be massive, it just needs to reflect you. A few well-chosen pieces can go a long way in making your guests feel welcomed and the table feel special. The key? Mixing functionality with fun. Focus on getting your core pieces and swap out place mats and table decor to bring your dinner party theme to life.
Stay tuned for more hosting tips, and if you use any of these pieces at your next gathering, tag us @table.of.friends. We’d love to see your setup.
